Let it flow! God poured living water into us and out of us living waters flow. When water stops flowing it becomes a terminal body of water like the Salt Lake in Utah, but when water flows it brings life to it's surroundings. Likewise, our faith flourishes when shared. When we simply plant a seed, Jesus sees to it that the seed is watered and the fruit is harvested. This week as we celebrate the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus let's continue to plant seeds. Like Michael Mack says in this month's Christian Standard,
The resurrection leads to the commission. It also provides the power necessary to accomplish it . . . I want more than to know about Jesus or about his resurrection. Rather, I want to experience them and live them out in my life. They have become a part of me through my faith, having been activated at baptism, through the gifting of the Holy Spirit. Everyone who comes in contact with me should then experience Jesus and his resurrection power through me. The Christian life is a life of overflow.
Last Sunday our group committed to plant nearly 300 seeds in the month of April. If you missed the chance to committ to this process Sunday, listen to this week's message and then fill out a committment card this Sunday. Also, for those of you who have begun planting seeds, come prepared to see a visual reminder of that this Sunday as we pray over those encounters and celebrate the chance we have to share great news with others!
